The Application and Components and Knowing where to apply!
CAG's College Admissions Process

Assessments: Students all begin by completing 2 Personality Assessments and 1 Learning Style Inventory. These results are reviewed and explained one-on-one with the student.
Brag Sheet/Resume: A Brag Sheet is a resume of who you are and what you have done while in High School. A Brag Sheet requires specific information and formatting. Brag Sheets are submitted to colleges and universities with your application materials.
Activity Essay: An Activity Essay is a short and brief elaboration of one of your Brag Sheet activities. An Activity Essay expands on something that is of importance to you. Like the Brag Sheet, there is strict guidelines and formatting for this essay.
Personal Statement: A Personal Statement is a 2-3 page essay that reveals something about YOU. Your competition can have the same GPA, Class Rank, Test Scores, however; they will not have the same Personal Statement! Make it memorable and unique!
Letters of Recommendation: Each application should be accompanied by multiple Letters of Recommendation. Depending on your course of study, high school expereiences and activity involvement you must chose the best faculty to write your Letters of Recommendation.
Applications: Applications can be sent at all times of the year, but when is the best time for you to apply? Early Action, Early Decision, Rolling Admissions? You must research your possibilities and make the best choice for you! We encourage all students to apply Early Action, by Halloween! By doing this, students are amongst the first to apply and are often rewarded more scholarship funds, as they are available and often receive all responses prior to January 1st.

College Visits: This is the most important component to visiting a school. Knowing what to do, what to look for and what to ask can leave a lasting impression on College Admissions Faculty. Prepare yoursef for the RIGHT lasting impressions versus the WRONG lasting impression!
Deciding Where to Apply: This is the most difficult part of the College Admissions for a student. There are over 3,000 Colleges and Universities in the United States alone and you should be applying to 6-10! If you have followed CAG's College Search Process you can make this step a lot easier! What were the most major components for you in deciding what you want? What were the results of all those resources in the college search? Where did schools rank after your Visits?
Lastly, once you know where you are applying it's time to meet all DEADLINES! Once a school is on your application list, visit their website immediately! You need to keep a calendar of when applications are due, what is required with the application and also when financial documents are required. You must also follow your high school deadlines for transcript requests and letters of recommendation. If a complete package is not at a College or University by the deadline they cannot make a decision!
